Matt Stafford is definitely the best quarterback in the 2009 NFL draft, but I don’t think going to the Detroit Lions would be good for Stafford, nor for the Lions, for a whole host of reasons. But it may be too late – according to some reports. Here’s where i’m at on

Quarterback John Brantley has some huge shoes to fill in the likes of Tim Tebow for the Florida Gators. Brantley isn’t on anybody’s radar this year, except the coaching staff at Florida, but he should be. He’s going to see a lot of playing time this year and he’s the future at quarterback for the Gators. He’ll see tons of playing time in the spring game, and he brings a lot to the

Quarterback Tim Tebow is one of the most talked about college football quarterbacks in the land, and for good reason. Tebow has been nothing but stellar in leading the Florida Gators to the top of the SEC, to the National Championship, and has ammassed every record, trophy, and title you could possibly win along the way. He has been innovative, with his “jump pass” being a fantastically effective creation, he’s been a tremendous running quarterback, an accurate and strong-armed passing quarterback, a tremendous team leader, and has impeccable character. But with everyone aiming at him this year, will he be able to live up to the expectations?

Quarterback Sam Bradford was not highly recruited out of high school. Bradford was rated a 3-star prospect and was overshadowed by many of the high-powered recruits in his class. But I’ll bet ya anything he didn’t mind that a bit. As a red-shirt freshman he won the starting position and never looked back. It’s rumored that he reads the story “David and Goliath” before every game – but I’ve got news for Sam Bradford – he’s not David anymore – and everyone he faces will be reading that same book before gametime.

Tim Tebow of the Florida Gators, Colt McCoy of the Texas Longhorns, and Sam Bradford of the Oklahoma Sooners. These three quarterbacks are slated to be the premier gunslingers of 2009, but you know there will be others that rise up to steal some of the spotlight before the 2009 season is out. Who will win the Heisman? Who will play for their conference championship? For these three NCAA hometown heroes, nothing will satisfy any of them short of the National Championship – and don’t let anyone tell you

Quarterback Matt Stafford was recently referred to directly, and indirectly, by a number of current Georgia Bulldog players when it came to the idea of team leadership, unity, drive, and determination. Matt Stafford’s quarterbacking skills were never called into question, but last year’s Georgia Bulldogs were a big disappointment and it seems a lot of fingers are being pointed at last year’s seniors, and the fact that there was too much focus on superstars going to the NFL rather than bringing a team together to win an SEC championship, and possibly a national championship. Matt Stafford says he’s ready to take on a leadership role in rebuilding the Detroit Lions, but we better just wait one minute before we delegate the task of Lion Savior to

Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger both committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for the 2009 season, and after the departure of Matt Stafford, everybody is looking to the future to see what’s in store for the Georgia Bulldogs this year. But not so fast. You have a fifth year senior in Joe Cox that’s more than ready to take the helm and has already been awarded the starting position for 2009. So either Aaron Murray or Zach Mettenberger will take over in 2010? Not so fast, again! You have Logan Gray, a sophomore, a close second behind Cox. But let me tell ya, it’s gonna be all that Gray can do to hold off the two recruits behind him for the starting job in 2010 and beyond – and maybe even for the backup spot in 2009.

Stafford….have you lost your mind? Matt Stafford is coming out of college as a junior and as I stated in a previous post, Stafford is being considered as a first round draft pick by the Detroit Lions. I personally don’t feel Stafford is ready for the NFL, but he wasn’t going to risk being taken in the 345th round in the 2010 NFL draft in the middle of what could be one of the best quarterback classes ever. But unless he knows something about the 2009 NFL draft that we don’t, this move just does not make any sense.
How has this worked out in the past for others that have skipped the combine? Well, you need look no further than Brady Quinn, as he waited several hours before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 22nd overall pick, and Matt Leinart, the Heisman Trophy winner,

The three quarterbacks that are projected for the first round in the 2009 NFL draft are:

Although the Detroit Lions need to address the Quarterback position, it doesn’t seem like drafting a quarterback this year would be the way to go, and Matt Stafford is no guarantee when it comes to playing in the NFL

Quarterback Mathew Stafford is the second to make yet another questionable call by a junior quarterback to go to the NFL. Safford and former USC quarterback Mark Sanchez preclude their senior seasons and turn their careers toward the NFL. Stafford is projected to go high in the draft and is one of the top, if not the top QB in the 2009 NFL draft. But being the top quarterback in the draft and becoming a top NFL quarterback is two different things.
Stafford’s strongest trait is his personality – especially his likeability, mental toughness, and leadership qualities. He has always been well-liked by the coaching staff and his teamates. He is storied to be a great leader in the locker room, and his mental toughness and confidence have been evident throughout his career. And now he’s being projected as a possible first pick overall in the NFL draft. Many Detroit Lions

Quarterback Review: A Few Notes From The 2009 NFL Combine
The quarterbacks didn't get a ton of TV time at the NFL combine, and most of what they do is just a few basic dropbacks and throws. You get a better look at the receivers than you do the quarterbacks, but there were a few interesting things I took away...
